CS2 Case Hardened Blue Gem Guide: Patterns, Tiers and Prices
A Blue Gem is a Case Hardened pattern with a prominent blue appearance. Two skins with the same market name and wear condition can look very different. Their paint seed determines the placement of the pattern, so the regular market price of an AK-47 | Case Hardened does not tell you the value of a particular blue example.
To check an item, start with the weapon model, paint seed and an inspection of the actual skin. A seller calling it “Tier 1” is not a substitute for those checks.
How to check whether a Case Hardened is a Blue Gem
- Check the full item name. Confirm the finish and weapon model. A seed associated with an AK-47 does not carry the same classification on a knife.
- Open the item's inspect link. Examine the side normally visible in play and the reverse side. Use the seller's screenshots for comparison, but inspect the item attached to the listing.
- Record its paint seed and float. Seed describes pattern placement; float describes wear. They are separate fields in the CSFloat inspection data documentation.
- Compare the same seed on the same model. Look at the placement of blue and gold areas under similar lighting. A generic catalogue image may not show the pattern of the individual item being sold.
For an AK-47, look closely at the top of the body and the magazine. For a knife, inspect each side of the blade separately. A blue reverse side does not mean the normal playing side looks the same.

These are visual examples, not a complete ranking or a price list. Neither a tier nor a valuation transfers from one weapon model to another.
What do Blue Gem tiers and blue percentages mean?
Tier lists are community classifications. Check who created a list, which model it covers and what its criteria are. The AK-47 guide considers particular areas of the weapon rather than treating every blue pixel as equally important.
A rule such as “70% blue means Tier 1 and ten times the price” is not a reliable valuation method. Patterns with similar blue coverage can look quite different because of where the colour appears. A percentage without a specified side or measurement method is not enough to judge a purchase.

How much is a Blue Gem worth?
There is no single Blue Gem price. Start with comparable items: the same model and seed, similar float, and the same StatTrak status. Then account separately for stickers and the terms of the transaction.
- An asking price is not a completed sale. A seller's listing does not prove that a buyer will pay that amount.
- The ordinary Case Hardened price is a baseline. A catalogue price that ignores the seed is not an appraisal of a rare pattern.
- Compare the same kind of proceeds. Steam Wallet funds and money available to withdraw are different outcomes.
- Check the date, currency and deductions. An old screenshot or an amount before fees can make comparisons misleading.
If there are no comparable completed sales, gather offers and describe your valuation as an estimate. A rare pattern does not guarantee a quick sale or a future price increase.
How to sell a Case Hardened without overlooking its pattern
Save the inspect link, seed, float and screenshots of both sides before listing. Put those details in the description so a buyer can verify the item and compare it with other examples.

Is a screenshot enough to verify a purchase?
No. Check the model, seed and float, open the inspect link and confirm that the final trade offer contains that exact item.
Why isn't there a price table for every knife?
A table without specific seeds and comparable transactions suggests a level of precision it cannot support. A few comparable examples are more useful for valuing your knife than a single “Tier 1” price for the whole model.
