CSBoard vs Steam Market: Fees, Sale Proceeds and Payouts

Two different ways to use the proceeds from a skin sale
Steam Community Market sales credit your Steam Wallet. CSBoard offers P2P marketplace sales, direct item exchanges and a separate instant-sell buyout. Compare the transaction type and the final amount rather than assuming a listed skin price is a cash payout.
CSBoard fees by operation
| Operation | CSBoard fee | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit | 0% | Amount shown before confirmation |
| Direct item-for-item exchange without money | 0% | Items and Steam trade conditions |
| P2P marketplace sale | 2% selling fee | Sale price and net proceeds |
| Instant sell | Separate buyout quote | Offered price, eligibility and payout terms |
| Withdrawal | Depends on the selected method | Fixed, percentage or network charges shown in the payout panel |
A simple P2P sale example
If a P2P sale price is $100, a 2% selling fee is $2, leaving $98 before any separate withdrawal charges. This is an arithmetic example, not a guaranteed skin valuation or an instant-sell quote. A Steam listing price and an external cash offer are different prices; comparing them as if they were identical can overstate the saving.
When Steam Market fits
If you intend to spend the proceeds inside Steam, compare the amount credited to your Wallet in Steam’s confirmation screen. The Wallet balance is not a cash withdrawal. Check the actual fees and restrictions displayed for your transaction.
When to compare CSBoard options
Use a direct exchange if you want another player’s items and no money changes hands. Use a P2P listing if you want to set a sale price and wait for a buyer. Use instant sell to review an available buyout offer without waiting for your own listing to sell.
Timing and withdrawals
External payout timing depends on Steam Trade Protection, account eligibility and the chosen payment method. Funds from a recent trade may remain protected for approximately seven days. Any eligible early-payout option and its terms are shown in the application; a payout in seconds is not guaranteed.
Before confirming, compare the net amount, currency, withdrawal fees and expected availability date. A lower selling fee alone does not guarantee a better net offer.
